WACA at A-Day and Software Day

A-Day light - accessible media beach

Each year, accessible media, one of our members on the WACA advisory board, organises “the” conference in Austria on the subject of web accessibility – a must for every developer. Due to the present situation, this year’s A-Day was held in a scaled-down version at Strandbar Herrmann, but in a completely new way: A-Day this time on the beach!
The programme included presentations and a panel discussion on, among other things, accessible online conference systems and was followed by a get-together.

The presentations can be found on the A-Day website

Software Day

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Austrian Software Industry Association VÖSI, the Software Day took place focusing on “Artificial Intelligence”. WACA and the Hilfsgemeinschaft der Blinden und Sehschwachen Österreichs were once again represented at this specialist event with a stand as well as with presentations.
The Austrian Software Industry Association has recently established its own special interest group for accessibility, of which the Hilfsgemeinschaft and WACA are members: Special Interest Group Accessibility in ICT

Accessibility Day

At this year's Siteimprove Accessibility Day experts from Zugang für Alle (Switzerland), Siteimprove (Denmark), DMK E-Businesses and CoreMedia (Germany) were present in addition to Werner Rosenberger from WACA. The following topics were discussed in more detail:

  • WCAG 2.2 and 3.0
  • Implementation of WCAG guidelines in the web team
  • Accessibility as a holistic website project
  • Easy language
  • Accessibility for content developers

The online event was broadcast throughout the DACH region and was a tremendous success with over 350 participants.
